Business Management

The Master Painters Association of Queensland is proud to offer a practical business management course, relevant to anyone who wishes to set up a new business. This course can be taken independently, or as an elective within the painting and decorating apprenticeship. This course is suitable for any person with basic numeracy and literacy skills.

Duration

Online – maximum of 20 hours consisting of:

10-14 hours of learning

• Up to 6 hours to complete assessment activities

• Up to 10 hours of learning

• Up to 6 hours to complete assessment activities

This unit of competency can be offered via two modes of delivery consisting of:

Online combined with face to face (for practical assessment purposes)

Both delivery modes utilise MPA Online, our online learning management system.

All learning and the theory assessment is completed online through MPA Online followed by the completion of a face to face practical assessment component.

Assessment methods

Assessments consist of a range of interactive activities including:

• Audio and visual response to scenarios
• Written tests – short answer and multiple choice questions

The theory assessment is completed online prior to the learner attending our facility (or trainer going on site) to complete practical assessment tasks.

The system is self-marking and requires 100% satisfactory performance.

The practical assessment component for this unit of competency requires the learner to complete an interaction with one or more people and will be observed by a qualified MPAQ assessor. The interaction relates directly back to discussions surrounding financial capacity and to carry out negotiations.

This unit of competency is funded under the Construction Skills Queensland Short Course program for eligible participants

The total cost of this short course is $400. Students eligible for funding under the CSQ Short Courses program will be required to pay a contribution fee of $40 toward the cost of this course.

While all training is conducted in an online mode of delivery, students can elect to complete their training in their own time at home or schedule to complete the training using MPAs classroom facilities located at Salisbury.

To be eligible to receive funding under the Construction Skills Queensland Short Courses Program, students must be:

• At least 15 years of age
• Queensland resident
• Australian or New Zealand citizen or permanent resident
• Currently working in the Construction industry or worked in the construction industry in the preceding 6 months
• Able to present evidence to confirm their current address in Queensland (normally a driver’s licence) and their citizenship or residency (normally a green Medicare card)
