Big Win for Painters: Financial Reporting Requirements Eased for SC1 and SC2 Individual Licensees

We're pleased to share some positive news for Queensland's painting industry.

Following ongoing industry consultation, including advocacy from the Master Painters Association Queensland (MPAQ), the Department of Housing and Public Works has announced a significant change that will benefit the majority of individual licensees.

Effective immediately, individual licensees holding a Building Self Certifying (SC) 1 or 2 licence are no longer required to submit annual financial reports to the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC).

This change is expected to benefit around 97% of individual licensees, helping to reduce administrative burden and save valuable time and money.

The Master Painters Association has been actively involved in discussions with government stakeholders to highlight the unnecessary red tape faced by sole operators and small businesses in the painting trade. We're proud to have played a part in achieving this outcome that supports hardworking painters across the state.
